The organization’s primary focus is community development. Community development is defined as a process where community members come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems.

Summary of Position:  The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to plan and execute corporate, foundation, individual donor, annual fund, and charitable planned giving programs. This individual will be responsible for day-to-day planning, coordination, oversight and management of the organization’s efforts. The Director of Development is responsible for creating and implementing Bridge of Grace’s fund-raising and marketing strategy, creating best practices and driving all development and public relations efforts of the organization including major gifts, special events, donor cultivation and solicitation, foundation and corporate relations and planned giving.

Duties and responsibilities: 

1. Fundraising – Establishes goals for unrestricted funding sources and enlists support from members of agency Board, staff, and volunteers. Strategizes and orchestrates methods of approach to institutional donors.

2. Annual Fund – Establish an annual fund program to include the development and maintenance of the organization’s mailing list, compose solicitation letters and associated material and inserts. Also to handle the mailing of the correspondence involved. This includes fundraising events and other fundraising tactics and strategies needed included in the annual fund portion of the development plan.

3. Major Gift/Donor Support – Orchestrate major donor, board and special category solicitations and produce support materials with the intent to retain or upgrade gifts when possible. Cultivates donors by producing specialized correspondences, preparing letters of acknowledgment, scheduling and attending in-person visits.

4. Corporate Relations and sponsorships – This involves developing relationships in the corporate community and establishing partnerships that will result in gifts, sponsorships, and service opportunities for them.

5. Database and Records Management – Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining mechanized and paper records of contributors. Generate queries, reports, exports and any other collection data as needed. Manage any related vendors.

6. Development & Public Relations – Supervises most development and public affairs matters, particularly the creation of various communications such as the newsletters, brochures, annual report, general PowerPoint presentations, executive correspondences and speeches. Assures update content for website.

7. Planned Giving Program – Track progress of pending Legacy and Bequest gifts. Fulfill requests, produce correspondences and encourage partial/early disbursement where appropriate.

Other duties may be assigned. On an ongoing basis.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Minimum 3 years experience in development.
• Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

Summary of Position:

The community development coordinator (CDC) advances community-centered economic development initiatives The Coordinator will collaborate with other non-profit organizations and governmental bodies serving the Bridge of Grace area to identify, secure and coordinate resources necessary to implement priority community development projects. She/he will also conduct research, share information about community development funding opportunities and serve as technical assistant and consultant to the CCDA team in Fort Wayne. The coordinator will follow-up and assure Bridge of Grace commitments to the Christian Community Development Association team is completed. Develop and be an advocate for new programs. Coordinate efforts with partners as needed such as city, business sector, police, City Safety Department, etc. involve in volunteer and student recruitment, evaluate effectiveness, and develop job descriptions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversees coordination of all inquiries for community outreach; responds in a timely and accurate way to community-based groups and partner organizations.
• Shares responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of research and data information; following-up with community meetings or connections, shares information about community resources with the Bridge of Grace team and CCDA team.
• Organizes training and workshops for the community organizations and leaders about how to create strong projects and find potential funding.
• Coordinates and helps implement community and economic development projects.
• Identifies resources to provide technical assistance to community groups in the administration of grants including preparation of required reports and supporting documentation.
• Compile studies, reports, plans and other pertinent information on community
• Initiatives and potential community programs.
• Creates a system for tracking community plans and proposals for cultural and natural resource projects, and develops a project matrix.
• Promotes inter-organizational communication between local, county, state and national stakeholders and funders. Keeps and shares current information on county, state, and federal initiatives.
• Serves as a liaison as needed on boards, meetings, and events.
• Build relationships with individuals and entities in the community identifying formal and informal leadership in communities and holding community convening’s.
• Train the identified leadership in skills pertaining to economic development
• Create tools to determine project readiness and help the community move towards readiness if necessary.
• Develop database of potential funders for economic development projects with a cultural and/or natural resources focus.
• Provide technical assistance to the CCDA team
• Track metrics to determine success of programs.
• Determine barriers to success for community development and seek to eliminate those barriers.
• Strengthen partnerships with organizations and entities engaged in local economic development efforts.
• Assists with general office functions including telephones, financial reports, Administration and other related activities.
• Additional duties as assigned by Executive Director

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in community development, economic development, community planning, public administration, cross-cultural ministries sustainability or other relevant field. If not Bachelor’s Degree experience is require.

The following are specific contributions that must be developed during the training program in order to successful complete the program and be placed in a hotel with or without reasonable accommodation:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management

  • Participate in the agency’s management team, demonstrating a commitment to building, cooperation and collaboration among managers, staff, programs and departments.

  • Ensure direct services are provided by focusing on all daily operational aspects of the guardianship program.

2. Help to arrange for or ensure a safe place for client to live, medical care, clothing, food, etc.

3. Work with doctor, nurses, dentist, psychiatrist, social workers, activity directors, etc. to develop best plan for care of client and monitor implementation of the plan and progress of client and adjust plan as required.

4. Work with internal and external resources to preserve dignity and sustain quality of life of all clients.

5. Recruit, train and manage the volunteer advocates, including ensuring proper attention, visitation and documentation by volunteer advocates are meeting the needs of the VASIA clients.

6. Visit clients face to face regularly and review client’s health and well-being. Monitor provider care and work cooperatively with external caregivers to assure quality of life.

7. Attend client’s interdisciplinary planning meetings.
8. Make medical decisions for client as need arises and consult doctors and those who work closely with client in order to make the best possible decision for the client.

9. Provide education for community facilities and other professionals on
guardianship as necessary.
10.Work with Adult Protective Services, courts, attorneys, etc. to assist in legal process of guardianship. Participate in Guardianship hearings in the Courts.

11.Prepare and submit annual reports to the Indiana Supreme Court and Allen County Superior Court.

12.Document all meetings, proceedings and maintain necessary records as
required by Indiana Supreme Court. Organize necessary information including personal, legal, medical, financial, SS/Medicare/Medicaid, care provider and logs for client in a notebook and central file and keep it current. Monthly review and filing of documentation.

13.Work with hospital, nursing home and funeral home to finalize funeral arrangements at the time of client’s death.

14.Maintain regular correspondence with any close friends/relatives of the client and keep them up to date on client’s status as appropriate.

15.Build relationships with other supplemental agencies who serve the elderly and/or persons with disabilities.

16.Obtain all required certifications within established national, state and agency deadlines.

17.Attend the MHANI Adult Guardianship Advisory Committee and other meetings of local and state groups.

18.Attend organizational, departmental, and committee meetings as directed.
19.Perform other duties as assigned.
20.Attend training sessions and workshops as necessary.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
